Bethany, CT Wedding Photography | Gavin + Jenna

Gavin and Jenna had one of the more memorable weddings we have ever photographed as it was truly a shotgun wedding! There is something beautiful and unique that happens when a couple chooses to make their wedding day truly their own and throw conventional or traditional wedding plans by the wayside.  There are a few key things that they enjoy most in their lives – family, dogs, and guns – and all three played a prominent role in their wedding day. Jenna’s bouquet was one of the most gorgeous arrangements we have ever seen and it was put together lovingly by her own mother. Jenna’s dog functioned as a ring bearer and her new mother-in-law’s dog sported a white dress in honor of the occasion. As for the guns…well we will get to those in a moment!

Everyone prepared for the day at the home of Jenna’s family. It was a wonderful time for everyone to relax and enjoy each other’s company while preparing for this grand occasion. Gavin and Jenna chose to do a first look, which is always fun to do. It is not traditional for the bride and groom to see each other before the ceremony, but it is a wonderful opportunity for a couple to work extra time for their photos into their day. It can also be special because it’s more of a private moment for the couple when they do see each other for the first time.

The ceremony and reception were both held at the Lakeview Lodge in Bethany, CT. Between the two, we had some time to have the bridal party and families pose for a group shot with their firearms. On the stroll to the location where we would be taking their photos, Jenna’s dad found a dead chipmunk along the walkway and proceeded to incorporate it into the photos as well. If you look closely, it is in his pocket in the group shot! The reception was a wild party full of a range of fun and emotions. It was the perfect blend of laughter and tears, both of which were in ample supply during the evening. After moving speeches by both Jenna’s sister and parents, the drinking and dancing got underway. As gifts to their guests, Gavin and Jenna chose to give away miniature bottles of Absolut vodka in flavors to match their wedding colors.

Gavin and Jenna, we had an “Absolut” blast at your wedding! May you continue to feel the freedom to be yourselves in your new journey together and to always accept and love each other for how you are uniquely made. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
