As we begin this new year, it’s always good to reflect back on the year before. A lot can happen in a year. As you have already seen, we added another member to our family in December and we couldn’t be happier with how he has completed our little family. We survived an unexpected knee surgery for Rachel last spring. Our local network of photographers have always meant a lot to us, but it was great to see how so many of them really stepped up to the plate to help us when it was needed most.
It was just over a year ago that we sat in San Antonio at a national photographer’s conference and spent some time together brainstorming and dreaming about the year ahead and the direction we wanted our business to go. It’s always amazing to us that no matter how big the dream, just the simple act of dreaming and writing down goals for yourself to move towards that dream go a long way. As with many previous years, we wrote some things on our list that we felt would be a bit of a stretch for us in regards to connecting with more photographers and other vendors, increasing our skills, and expanding our name and brand. It’s exciting to look back to last year and see all of the wonderful things that were accomplished even in spite of some of the hurdles we faced.
2012 is already off to a great start. We recently received the Wedding Wire Bride’s Choice Award for the second year in a row which recognizes the top 5% of all wedding professionals in the United States. A special thanks to all of our brides who posted such wonderful reviews that qualified us for this distinct honor.
We are also featured in the current issue of The Connecticut Bride magazine. One of our biggest goals last year was to have our work be published in some fashion. We knew we had a lot of weddings that were going to be really unique and beautiful, so in the fall we began submitting of few of them to some various blogs and publications. We were thrilled when The Connecticut Bride contacted us back in November to inform us that they would be doing a full two page feature of Stokes and Britton’s wedding in the magazine! The article is also available on their website.
It is one of the greatest thrills to see your work in print and we are so grateful to have been blessed in this way. We look forward to many more experiences like it as we continue to book more wonderful couples and their gorgeous weddings.
We can’t wait to see what else 2012 holds for us! As with all years before it, there will be highs and lows, joys and sorrows, struggles and victories, but we can’t ask for anything more than to have the privilege of doing what we love the most – spending time with wonderful people and capturing the most sacred and beautiful moments of their lives. We’ve got our eyes set on the stars as we strive to go even further this year and we already see great things coming on the horizon. What’s on your list of dreams for 2012?
