Happy New Year friends!
Over Christmas break we flew out to the west coast to photograph Augie and Atosa’s engagement session and New Year’s Eve wedding reception. We can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year than with this warmth and sun filled engagement session photographed in southern California. It was such an honor for Augie and Atosa to ask us to be their photographers. California holds a special place in our hearts since I (Rachel) was born in Newport Beach and grew up visiting my grandparents and extended family there just about every summer.
Their engagement session is one that we will always look back on with fondness in our hearts and not just because it was in a gorgeous location where the ocean meets the rocks of Corona del Mar. There are a few key elements that make a great engagement session and we really feel those things coming together is what made Augie and Atosa’s go smoothly and be a ton of fun. They came in with some ideas, yet had adventurous spirits and were open to trying anything. We immediately connected with the two of them and were able to understand their vision for the session and incorporate that with our style. They wanted to have a lot of movement in their shots and be interacting with one another. We decided the best way to do that would be for them to bring along their new puppy dog, Dre Waffles. What a blast we had running up and down the beach with Dre while watching the sail boats come in and out of the harbor. After standing on the cliffs watching the sunset, we walked back to our cars and it was if we had all been long time friends. Yes, we just spent a couple of hours working and photographing, but it didn’t feel stuffy or uncomfortable at all. It was a time for us to build a really neat relationship with them and that gave all of us great joy.
Stay tuned for their wedding receptions photos coming soon!
