You may remember Stokes and Britton from our recent engagement session with them. Their passion for boating and all things nautical definitely permeated their wedding day. They chose to become husband and wife on the scenic and historic Sheffield Island in Norwalk, CT. They could not have picked a more beautiful day for the occasion as the weather was perfect and the sunset that day was breathtaking. It was as if the heavens were smiling down on them and blessing this significant event in their lives.
The logistics of holding an event of this magnitude is no easy task. Stokes and Britton chose Ambiance Chic Wedding Designs to not only make their wedding sensationally gorgeous, but also to coordinate getting all the guests and vendors out to the island in a timely and organized fashion. They did an exceptional job to help everything go smoothly and on time!
The guys got out to the island early and enjoyed some fun and games, in particular a hand made corn hole game made for Stokes by his best man. Stokes managed to win both games he played before it was time for the ceremony. The guys were also able to sneak to the top of the lighthouse for some photos while they waited for the festivities to begin. The wedding guests were able to also enjoy some bocce and other lawn games while waiting for the remaining boats to arrive with the rest of the guests and of course the bride and her bridesmaids.
Britton’s ship came in right as the ceremony was set to begin. She surprised Stokes by having a bagpiper (supplied by their band for the reception, ETA Music) accompany her and the bridesmaids as they made their entrance. It’s always a touching moment to a groom get emotional at a wedding and it was easy to see how much this moment meant to Stokes. After a beautiful ceremony by the flagpole, everyone headed over to the reception on the other side of the island.
There were so many excellent detail elements to the wedding which incorporated the things most important to them as a couple, especially their nautical theme. They had plank wood signs pointing people in the right direction on the island, compasses which functioned as name cards for the guests, and the tables at the reception which were named after local islands. Jacq and her team from Ambiance Chic Wedding Designs had everything looking perfect, including the flowers which they arranged themselves! Britton’s mother had passed away, but she was there in spirit. Britton wore her mom’s wedding dress and carried a picture of her mother from her wedding day standing with her bridesmaids. She even had all 4 of her mother’s bridesmaids attend her wedding.
As the guests were finishing up their delicious dinners, compliments of the Bull’s Head Market in Norwalk, they were treated to one of the most gorgeous sunsets, we’ve ever seen. It was the perfect end to the perfect day. After the sun went down, the party heated up and the ETA Music band helped all of the guests to get up and dance the night away.
Stokes and Britton, you are such a beautiful and special couple and we were honored to be a part of your special day. Elegance and grace radiate from you and your genuineness is to be admired. May your days as husband and wife be always filled with the sunshine and beauty that surrounded your wedding day and we hope to see you again soon!
